Painting with Midtones

I painted this piece in Photoshop for Reddit Gets Drawn from a request by user Meathat. For this piece I tried to use larger differences in hue and saturation instead of value to get some nice readability while staying mostly within the midtone range for value.

Recently found out about a subreddit called Reddit Gets Drawn (/r/redditgetsdrawn) so i decided to take a shot at one of the requests.

Heres's what I made for user elfi666 in photoshop:

I decided to deviate a little from the original image by giving the face a more curved lens look.

Scenic(-ish) Mountain Road Drive

It's been a while since I've posted anything to this blog. I've been feeling really burnt out after finishing grad school, so hopefully this post can be start of many more to come.
